Many people wonder who are those guys who pop tracts on people's windshields, appear on television and preach publicly on the campus at USU... WHO ARE WE Since 1983, Oasis Books has existed in the university town of Logan, Utah, to be a bright shining witness for the Lord Jesus Christ among the local valley community. The bookstore ministry, which has been led for more than 20 years by Brad Scheelke, is a part of Community Christian Ministries (CCM) located in Moscow, Idaho. CCM has been directed for many years by former naval officer, Jim Wilson, who is still going strong at 80 years old. While Oasis Books looks and feels like a commercial bookstore, it actually serves as a literature mission under non-profit status and has many other branches of ministry extending from it, such as the television ministry and campus ministry. Hence the name Oasis Books Outreach. In 2007, Eli Brayley, from New Brunswick, Canada, joined alongside Brad to help spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. CCM emphasizes the cooperation of the Christian community, and so Oasis Books Outreach is greatly enabled by the service of many faithful brothers and sisters. WHAT ARE WE The mission at Oasis Books consists of a threefold focus: edification of the saints (Colossians 1:28), unity among the saints (Ephesians 4:12-13) and evangelism towards the lost (Matthew 28:18). We seek to encourage an ever higher vision of the risen Christ, to stimulate the saints to abound in love for one another, and to bring the saving Gospel of Christ to those who are perishing. Literature, preaching and television are our primary ministries. The literature aspect includes the bookstore, distributing tracts, and making Christian resources available to churches and to the public. The campus ministry focuses on preaching the Word, both by open air preaching and by holding indoor meetings on campus. The television ministry involves the program, "Practical Christianity", which is broadcast weekly to the valley and surrounding areas. Besides these, many other activities take place throughout the week, such as Bible studies and home gatherings. Contact us to see how you can get involved! WHERE ARE WE Oasis Books is located in downtown Logan at 76 E 400 N, about one mile from Utah State University. Click here for a map. WHY ARE WE People ask, "Why do you do this?" Our reason is simple: Jesus commanded us to love one another. By loving one another, in simple obedience to Christ's command, we seek to spread His Gospel in the sphere that God has placed us, and by His strength which He supplies.
